With great sadness, Marshal Smuts Shellhole has to inform that Mothwa Edith Lawson answered the Sunset Call and has gone to meet the Higher Command after a long illness bravely borne.
A born and bred Rhodesian, Edith served as a Mothwa for more than fifty years until the travelling to Cape Town to attend meetings finally took its toll. In spirit though she remained a member of our fine Sister Organisation and always attended the Helderberg Remembrance Sunday in that capacity. She also regularly attended Shellhole meetings and social gatherings at Marshal Smuts and remained active in Shellhole affairs until lockdown set in.
One of two grand old ladies of our Shellhole, Edith will be remembered for her generosity of spirit, kindness of heart, great sense of fun and commitment to assist others. For many years her Tuesdays or Thursdays were taken up by working in the garden at Hospice, from where she eventually passed over this morning to the other side.
Sincere condolences are extended to her family and many friends; she will be missed by all who had the pleasure of making her acquaintance!
Rest in Peace dear Comrade!
Edith Lawson
