Who Qualifies to become a Shellhole Supporter?

The Shellhole Supporter is an individual who:

  1. Does not qualify to be a Moth as defined in Annexure “B-1”,
  2. Believe in the MOTH objectives and Ideals as defined in Clause 2 of the MOTH Constitution,
  3. Any of the following could be eligible to be Shellhole Supporters:
    • A Military Veteran, (Airforce, Army, Navy, SAMHS & SAP) that believes in the ideals of the MOTH but does not qualify to join the Order as a result of any restrictive clauses in Annexure “B-1”,
    • Immediate family and children of both living and deceased Moths,
    • Individuals who have not performed any military service, and therefore are not in any form classed as a Military Veteran, or Ex-Serviceman, but who have an affinity to the ideals of the Order, a keen interest in the purpose of the Shellhole, or interests in Military History, and who would add value to the Shellhole by their inclusion.

Eligibility of the Shellhole Supporter:

The Shellhole Supporter that may be considered would have to:

  1. Be introduced to the Shellhole by a Shellhole MOTH member or another Shellhole Supporter in good standing with the Shellhole who will act as their sponsor,
  2. Understand and believe in the MOTH objectives and Ideals as defined in clause 2 of the MOTH Constitution,
  3. Complete a Shellhole Supporter membership application which will be:-
    • Tabled at Shellhole monthly meeting, where Shellhole MOTH Members will indicate their approval/non-approval of the proposedmember,
    • All existing Shellhole Supporter members must be notified of the proposed membership with any objections being submitted tothe Adjutant,
  4. Serve a probationary three month period before they are finally admitted as Shellhole Supporters. The Sponsor will take responsibility for the Prospective Supporter’s attendance, and conduct at Shellhole functions,
  5. Any prospective Shellhole Supporter who qualifies to be a Moth would not be eligible for Supporter Membership, but would have to join as a full MOTH

The Shellhole Supporter’s right to decision making processes:

The Shellhole Supporter will:

  1. Not have the right to vote on any matters that pertain to the MOTH Constitution and General Standing Orders,
  2. Have the right to vote on any matters pertaining to the General operations and day-to-day activities of the Shellhole.

Shellhole Subscription Fees:

The Shellhole Supporter will:

  1. Pay an annual Subscription Fee to the Shellhole,
  2. The annual Subscription Fee will be determined by the Shellhole Executive,
  3. The Shellhole Supporter Subscription Fee will be retained by the Shellhole and no Capitation Fee will be payable to the Order,
  4. The annual Subscription Fee will be payable at the same time and according to the same rules that are in place for MOTH

Induction of a Shellhole Supporter:

The Shellhole Supporter, after having served the probationary period would have:

  1. Confirmation where Shellhole Moth Members will indicate their acceptance/non-acceptance of the prospective member,
  2. Confirmation of Shellhole Supporter members, who will indicate their acceptance/non-acceptance of the prospective member,
