12th February – Welcome to Old Bill of the Order
An enthusiastic bunch of blokes welcomed OBOTO, Leon Robertson, to the East London leg of his national tour.
A warm welcome on Thursday 12 February 2026 was ensured by lighting the fire of a congenial “tjop-en-dop”. Representatives of all the units fell in to ensure that OBOTO was among comrades.
Music was provided by MOTH who are also members of EL Caledonian Society Pipe Band.
During the formal part of the evening, Leon discussed the Order and his motocycle oddysey across the country. After presenting a pennant from his home Shellhole (Pro Patria) he received a commemorative pen from ELDD and pennants from the Shellholes and from SADFA Emonti..
Next evening, as a guest at the weekly Friday supper, he enjoyed the opportunity to meet with the wider membership and friends.
On Saturday morning members of MMA Border gathered to accompany him on the beginning of the next leg of his journey to Matatiele, parting company after a hearty breakfast on the outskirts of town.
