19538, Moth Leon Robertson joined the Order during 1997 at the now defunct Helwan Shellhole. Shortly after joining, Moth Leon became involved in the management functions of the Order, by being elected as Old Bill. During this initial phase of his M.O.T.H. career he also served as Sergeant Major for the Cape Midlands Provincial Dugout.

Rejoining the Order during 2011, Robbie took it upon himself to rejuvenate Komesho Shellhole in Wellington. The Shellhole quickly went from strength-to-strength and to this day is still a well-functioning Unit of the Order.

During August 2015 Moth Leon was elected as Deputy Provincial Old Bill for the Cape Western Dugout. He held this office for a period of five years and his tenure included many organisational highlights. As a sideline he also single-handedly formed Pro Patria Shellhole in Durbanville, by personally recruiting all 19 founder members from ranks outside the Order. This latter action was launched during 2019 and the Shellhole has since won the Shellhole of the Year award.

During August 2020 Moth Robertson was elected as Provincial Old for the Cape Western Dugout. His tenure as POB included responsibility for organisation of the official M.O.T.H. 95 celebrations and to bring the Lakeside Cottages under Provincial management. Needless to say, both these projects were managed to successful conclusions on behalf of the Order.

The Covid-19 lockdown period and other disasters that struck the country during this period also brought out the humane side of Leon’s commitment to the wellbeing of Military Veterans; being heavily involved with both Operation Firewood and Operation Grocery supplies.

A man known for making temporary enemies and lifelong friends as he goes about his business, Moth Robertson has already been awarded the Certificates of Comradeship, Excellent Service and Merit for his unwavering loyalty towards the Order in particular and Military Veterans in general.
